Inline Figure Skating Governing Bodies

Inline figure skating is performed on inline figure skates with three or four wheel frames in a rockered configuration and a front-mounted toe-stop on figure skating boots (to replace the blade). Inline figure skating began as an off-ice training alternative for ice figure skaters. The International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS – now World Skate) has recognized it as artistic roller skating on inline skates and includes inline figure skating freestyle competitions at its world championships.

Some ice figure skating federations like ISU recognize inline figure skating as off-ice training and many ice figure skating coaches teach ice/inline figure and dance skating. Fortunately the world of viewing some as ice / inliners (ice figure skaters who train off-ice on inline figure skates) and others as quad / inliners (artistic roller skaters who also skate on inline figure skates) has  joined into one.
